What types of ceremonies does CB Weddings offer?

How long have you been performing wedding ceremonies and vow renewals?

We’ve been performing these sorts of services since 2003.

Do you provide wedding planning or coordinating services?

We offer wedding officiant services.  We don’t provide any planning, coordinating, site-prep or set-up.  See our vendors list for some area professionals that we enjoy working with on the left of this page.

Do you provide flowers, archways, or other such decorations?

No.  We provide a beautiful ceremony.  You’ll want a wedding planner or coordinator for those sorts of things.  Check out our links/resource page.

What areas geographically do you cover?

We offer services from Tallahassee to Destin and on the beach from St. George Island to Destin Beaches.  Most of the weddings we perform are between Mexico Beach and Panama City Beach.

Can we write our own wedding vows?

Yes, to some degree.  It’s important that your ceremony be legally binding and thus, have all of the appropriate language. CB Weddings will work with you to determine the type of ceremony you desire and then create space within that ceremony for you to exchange the special messages you have for one another on your wedding or vow renewal day.

What are your fees?

CB Weddings establishes its fee for your ceremony based upon the location of the ceremony. The fees include travel and time, in addition to the fee for the ceremony itself. The fee for Panama City and Panama City Beach is a flat fee, while other locations, such as Rosemary Beach, Destin and Tallahassee for example, have additional travel and time costs associated.

What’s the difference between a ministerial ceremony and a civil ceremony?

Your Wedding or Vow Renewal can be either Ministerial or Civil.  

A Ministerial Ceremony includes prayers and mention of God or a higher authority. Unless requested otherwise, the ministerial ceremony is a nondenominational ceremony.

A Civil Ceremony has no prayers and no mention of God or a higher authority and is a short ceremony that contains binding words that solemnize the marriage.

Either of these ceremonies provided by CB Weddings ensures a properly solemnized marriage.

Can you marry us in a church?

CB Weddings can if you have written permission from the church’s governing body, including the date and time. CB Weddings would like to speak with the proper person at the church to ensure a smooth ceremony.

Can you marry us in Spanish?

No, but we can have the ceremony translated into Latin American Spanish, printed out, and distributed among guests so that they can follow along.

What questions or tips can you give to couples when considering a wedding officiant?

Make sure that you speak with your officiant.  More than ever before, CB Weddings receives calls for voice interviews.  It’s important that the person you choose to perform your ceremony has a voice that’s agreeable to you.  You might even want to arrange for a visual interview for the same reason.  We’ve often had prospective clients request pictures or videos.  Listen to the officiant. You’ll know whether he or she is the one you want to consider. 

Having a wedding on the beach is very different from an indoor ceremony.  There are far more issues to consider such as the openness of the beach, its natural lighting, the elements of weather, and the presence of onlookers, to name a few.  Securing a private beach for your ceremony can help with some of these issues, but the weather elements can’t be controlled.  The heat we have here in the April to September months is intense so it’s important to make guests aware of it and to advise them on wedding attire with this in mind. Because of the heat, CB Weddings keeps your ceremonies within a reasonable time frame.  Typically, during the May through August timeframe, we will not perform outdoor ceremonies between 11 am and 4 pm. We will consider indoor ceremonies for those hours.

Wedding officiants are typically not being hired or paid to organize your ceremony; only to officiate.  If you are having a fairly sizable guest list, you should strongly consider a wedding planner to ensure that your ceremony flows smoothly.  It also enables the bride/groom to relax and enjoy their wedding ceremony.  We can provide referrals.

The weather here in Florida can change quickly, which is why CB Weddings always encourages you to have a back up location in the event of inclement weather.  The wedding or vow renewal ceremony will be performed as agreed.

Do you need a Marriage License in Florida to get legally married?

Yes. The Marriage License must be issued in Florida and can be obtained from any Florida Courthouse. If both of you are residents of another state, there is no waiting period.  But, if either of you is a Florida resident, there is a 3 day waiting period.  You can bypass the 3 day waiting period by completing a 4 hour Pre Marital course from an approved provider. There may be a fee for the Pre Marital Course. Florida residents are given a discount on their marriage license fee if they complete the Pre Marital course from an approved provider.  CB Weddings has an approved provider for the Florida Pre Marital Course through Bay County only.
